Recruit Leaders To Build A Successful Network Marketing Business
I attended an online webinar last week and wanted to share with you some of the insights that I took away from it that I found to be glaringly true yet probably ignored by most network marketers…
The “old-school” approach to building a network marketing or MLM business is to contact and “sell” to your warm-market. Family and friends and close business associates. This approach works well to bring in distributors because they already know and trust you. The problem with this recruiting approach is that, generally speaking, your friends and family are not driven sales people and marketers. They like the idea of being able to make gobs of money in a home-based business but do not have the slightest idea how to do it and do not have the personality for it in most cases. Unless you are able to provide them with a proven, duplicatable system AND they are willing, able and trainable and will take action, your efforts will be lost on them.They might bring in a few people but that will be all.
Think about it…would you rather have your grandmother (sorry Grandma!) as a distributor or a proven successful marketer?
Our current recession provides the resourceful home based business entrepreneur with a large pool of perfectly qualified people to recruit into your business…Realtors, Mortgage Brokers, Insurance Agents, to name a few. People in these professions are experienced in building a business, marketing, and working on commission. Plus, they are typically personable, good listeners, and good communicators.
Let’s face it…while many advertisements will tell you that it is not necessary to recruit to earn in this business, that is just NOT TRUE. If you aspire to build the home-based business lifestyle for yourself, you will need to recruit others and have them recruit others. That’s just the way it is. How many people will Grandma bring into your business?
To recruit leaders, you will need to target leaders in your marketing efforts. Specifically go after these people both online and in your local market. Trust me…I was a successful mortgage broker for years until this economy forced me to look elsewhere. There are tons of people struggling with their real estate businesses right now, who would be more than happy to hear about another way that they can make money, even on a part-time basis. This can be done on the phone, in-person, via direct mail, or online. Just ask them…”Would you be interested in learning how you can make some extra income right now or are you satisfied just working your real estate business?”
