The Employee Mindset…Lose It!
When we were kids, most of us didn’t dream of becoming a network marker when we grew up! I mean, as fun as this business is (and I wish I had discovered it when I WAS younger!) I still think being a professional baseball player or in a rock band would have been really cool! Anyway, from whatever walk of life and whatever economic circumstances brought us to network marketing…we are here.
The majority of us, myself included, came from some kind of corporate environment – or at least an environment where we worked for someone else. We had a work schedule that was given to us by our employer that we had to follow. We had to go to work, whether we wanted to or not. We were given assignments that we were expected to complete by a certain date. If we did our job well, we would get a pay raise in a year and maybe a promotion. If we performed our job poorly, we risked getting fired.
Our currently poor economy has brought a lot of people who were perfectly happy with their jobs, until they were laid off or forced to look for additional income and realized there are no good jobs available, to the network marketing industry. These people, without any time to prepare (and little margin for error) have been thrown into the world of entrepreneurship. I know because I was one of those people!
BUT, it can be difficult for many to lose the employee mindset. To wake up with nobody telling them where they have to be and what they have to do. I know because when I speak to certain members of my downline, they talk to me like I’m their boss! The network marketing entrepreneur needs to create their own productive activity. They need to first determine what type of activity is productive (and any good mentor or upline will help of course), and then TAKE ACTION! “Taking Action” is the key. Trust me, I know that it can be frustrating at first to not experience immediate positive results BUT you can’t let this stop you.
An entrepreneur has a vision…an end goal in mind and is single-minded in their focus to achieve that goal.
Is it easy? No. Will it be worth it? YES!
My message to you today is this…no matter what brought you to network marketing you are here now. You are now an entrepreneur. EMBRACE IT! If you do, this industry will allow you to have a financial and personal freedom that you can’t find anywhere else.
