Why Does My Blog Look Different In FireFox And Internet Explorer?

I just went through something that was baffling to me and, since I Googled my issue, I know that it’s something that affects many bloggers and amateur site developers out there so I thought I’d share my story and solution.
I am a Firefox user. All of sudden, one day last week my blog started looking funky. A post was appearing in the sidebar and my widgets were appearing in my footer! I tried deleting the post that was in my sidebar, thinking that was the cause with no luck. I had been reading that sites can look different in Internet Explorer than Firefox, so I opened my IE browser and went to my site. It looked fine…
But, I wanted to use Firefox…plus I wanted my Firefox visitors to see the site the way I wanted them to. I use my site to capture leads and appearance is important. I posted this new bizarre issue in the MLM Lead System Pro Skype chatroom and received a response that said that if you write your posts in MS Word first and then copy/paste them to your WordPress blog, this can cause some funky code (that’s tech jargon for “the code’s messed up”!). I don’t write my posts in Word, I write them directly into WordPress, but I thought I’d take this approach anyway…
I took the most recent posts I had written and copied the text (not html since that was obviously what was causing my issues) from each and pasted it into Notepad. Then copied from Notepad back into WordPress. VOILA! After doing this with a few posts, my error was corrected. There must have been some bad code in one of my posts. My blog now looks the same in both Firefox and IE.
It’s crazy to me that browsers can read your code differently but apparently Notepad is the cure-all. If you are experiencing similar unexplained issues…just copy your text into Notepad and then paste it back into your WordPress blog. Any issues with your code should be resolved!
