One of the most important parts of of having a site is getting visitors to your site. You really do need people to come to your site.So what’s the best way to get people to your website? There are only a couple different types of traffic. Paid traffic and free traffic. So what does that mean? You can either buy visitors or you can get free traffic to your site.
In deciding to buy traffic to get people to your website,you can use programs like Yahoo Search and models known as PPC (aka Pay Per Click). So,what happens here is that you tell Google, for example, how much you are willing to pay for each click. Depending on how strong the competition you might end up paying quite a bit or a little per visitor. From a nickel per click to dollars per click. So obviously it can get real pricey. But it’s quick, reliable and usually predictable traffic. This model works at getting people to your site.
Another example of a model is the pay per impression. In this case you don’t spend per click,you buy a certain number of impressions usually measured in CPM – Cost Per Thousand. And there are a variety of ad networks out there that you can join and upload your banners and other websites put that banner on their site for the set number of impressions. In this method you might get a ton of clicks or none at all.
The thing about buying traffic is that you should really test the results and watch carefully, otherwise you might just be wasting your whole budget.
The other option when it comes to getting visitors to your site is getting free traffic. Free traffic can come from the search engines which requires SEO know-how. Free traffic can also come from other websites. Getting links is a helpful way of getting traffic. Other ways of getting free traffic would include things like writing articles and submitting them to article directories. Also, leaving meaningful comments on social sites like forums and blogs with a link back to your website can also help get additional free traffic.
So there really are many different ways to drive traffic to your pages. And really both ways free and paid, should be implemented and tested to see which one works best for your particular website.
